MIL-R-48442(MU)
4.6.1.2.4 External surfaces.- The external surfaces of the regulator
shall be visually inspected for completeness of the specified coating
and show no evidence of surface damage or deterioration to determine
compliance with 3.2.4.
4.6.1.3 Construction.- The converter shall be subjected to a
visual, tactile, and dimensional inspection for conformance to the
applicable drawings and requirements of this specification.
4.6.1.3.1 Internal wiring.- The internal wiring shall be inspected
for compliance with 3.3.1 during shock and vibration tests in 4.6.2.4
and 4.6.2.5 respectively.
4.6.1.3.2 Internal components.- Prior to final inspection of
regulators, internal components shall be visually inspected for
conformance with applicable soldering requirements of MIL-F-13926
and for rigidity and mounting security as specified in 3.3.2.
4.6.2 Environmental tests.
4.6.2.1 Temperature cycling and thermal shock.- The environmental
test equipment utilized in this test shall be in accordance with the
"Test Facilities" requirements of MIL-F-13926 and the conditions of
3.5.1. Subsequent to this test the regulator shall be subjected to
the tests specified in 4.6.3 and 4.6.4.
4.6.2.2 Operating temperature.- The environmental test equipment
utilized in this test shall be in accordance with "Test Facilities"
requirements of MIL-F-13926. The regulator shall be subjected to the
temperature and time periods specified in 3.5.2. While at each
extreme temperature the regulator shall be tested in accordance with
4.6.3 and 4.6.4.
4.6.2.3 Hermetic sealing.- The regulator, when at a temperature
not to exceed 100°F, shall be immersed for 2 or 3 minutes in a bath
of water, or any other suitable liquid of similar viscosity, and
maintained at a temperature of at least 180°F. During this test the
regulator shall show no evidence of leakage in compliance with 3.5.3.
Subsequent to the immergence, and within 5 minutes of exposure the
regulator shall be tested in accordance with 4.6.3 and 4.6.4.
4.6.2.4 Shock.- This test shall be conducted in accordance with
Method 202 of MIL-STD-202. While under shock impact. the regulator
shall be energized to determine compliance with 3.3.1. Subsequent
to exposure to shock, the regulator shall be subjected to a visual
examination and shall show no evidence of physical damage. The regulator
shall then be subjected to the tests specified in 4.6.3 and 4.6.4 to
determine compliance with 3.5.4.
4.6.2.5 Vibration.- This test shall be conducted in accordance
with Method 201 of MIL-STD-202 except that the motion shall be applied
for a period of 10 minutes in each of the three mutually perpendicular
